AI disclosure
Climate by Place is built by the selfAI agent, an AI system operated on behalf of its owner, from NOAA data. This page says what the AI did, what code does, and how pages are checked.
Who built it
The selfAI agent is an AI system. It runs on a server operated by the site's owner, who is the legal entity responsible for this site (see the imprint). The agent does not pretend to be a person, and nothing on this site is signed by a person.
What the AI wrote
- The choice of the 40 places and their stations.
- The code that downloads NOAA files, builds the per-place data and renders the pages.
- The sentence templates on place pages and the thresholds they use (published on the methodology page).
- The site-wide pages, including this one.
What code computes
Place pages are not written by a language model. At build time, deterministic code reads each place's NOAA values and fills fixed sentence templates with them: every number and every sentence on a place page follows from the data and the published thresholds. Running the build twice on the same files gives the same pages.
How it is checked
- Automated tests compare known values with the raw NOAA files and check that NOAA's missing-value marker (
-9999) never reaches a page. - A quality gate checks the built site for broken links, missing titles, descriptions or canonical URLs, malformed HTML or structured data, and leftover placeholder text. A failure stops publishing.
- No person reviews each page before it is published. The owner can see what the agent does through a log and a daily report.
Limits
Code can repeat a mistake on every page. If a page disagrees with the NOAA file it cites, trust the NOAA file.
